What will I be responsible for?

  • Attend to customer needs, taking orders, serving and informing guests about services offered in the Café
  • Conduct regular and routine checks on all Cafe equipment reporting any problems to Bar Operations without delay
  • Generate product development ideas and promote ‘up selling’ to customers by team
  • Manage customer questions and complaints to achieve positive resolution (or escalate to Head of Department when/if necessary)
  • Oversee and, when necessary, undertake preparation of food from Café menu; cooking and preparation of pastries and pizza; preparation and serving hot beverages; and other barista duties or table service as and when required
  • Ensure Café is managed and maintained to highest possible standards of cleanliness, customer presentation, etc.
  • Manage cash handling/flow, petty cash, inventory, and cashing up; effective and efficient processing of all deliveries and ensure full/appropriate liaison with Bar Control; stock control and stock ordering via Materials Control; and opening and closing of premises
  • Maintain quality control, food hygiene, and health and safety for all food/beverage services in the Café
  • Undertaking cleaning activities to ensure they are executed in a timely and professional manner (e.g. vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning down machines/workstations, polishing silverware, cleaning down kitchen etc.)

Leadership & Management

  • Create, maintain and manage staff working and cleaning rotas
  • Lead and manage team members to consistently deliver high quality performance and excellent customer service, including induction and training of new recruits
  • Delegate tasks and duties to Assistant Supervisor and other team members as appropriate
  • Be instrumental in the recruitment and selection of all new recruits in partnership with Bar Operations and/or Bar Control, communicating recruitment needs when necessary
  • Lead on induction and training of new recruits on-the-job, and manage continuous training and development of all team members on-the-job
  • Lead on all operational and people management activities appropriate to role

Other Duties

  • Ensure Company policies and procedures are managed and maintained
  • Other ad hoc duties in support of the Bars Department and Imperial London Hotel as and when required.
